Applesauce is very easy to make and can be used in many baking recipes as egg substitute. Applesauce can also be given to infants as babyfood and as a snack to toddlers. Any apple variety can be used, I prefer gala apples.
Recipe
Serving : 1 cup applesauce
Ingredients
- 4 Large apples or 6 medium apples
- 2 Tbsp water (pressure cooker method)
- Wash, peel and core the apples. Cut in cubes.
- Pressure cooker method : Add cubed apples with 2 Tbsp water in a pressure cooker. Close the lid and cook it for 12minutes. Let the pressure release naturally.
- Steaming method : Place the cubed apples on the steaming basket over 1 cup boiling water. Cover and cook for 20 minutes.
- Mash/blend the cooked apples.
- Applesauce is ready! Serve it cooled.
- Store in an airtight container/jar and place in refrigerator. Use within a week.
